ESC PROJECT AT HANDPAPPERSBRUK IN LESSEBO
Culture, democratic and social inclusion

About Lessebo handpappersbruk:
Lessebo hand paper mill was established in 1693. Even today, several types of watercolor paper and writing paper are manufactured in different formats for different purposes and areas of use. Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan (SV) wants to protect and manage the cultural heritage that Lessebo Handpappersbruk constitutes. The various forms of the craft must be preserved and developed for future generations through local collaboration. The place shall be a meeting place for culture and public education. The commercial paper production is still the basis of the business and to further develop the opportunities for visitors to experience the cultural heritage. SV is an idea-driven public education organization with the vision of a society where people grow through knowledge, insight and participation. SV currently has operations in all municipalities in Sweden.
What we do in the paper mill:
We offer a variety of activities. Together with SV, we offer a wide range of courses, seminars and workshops. You can learn to make your own paper, reflect on life, share and share knowledge in many areas, listen to interesting lectures and bring important insights home with you. Besides the production of handmade paper, we also have conference, museum and gallery operations on the premises.
The volunteers are supposed to work in this place and assist with exhibitions, guided tours, develop more interesting activities in connection to the building, the art and the handicraft as well as the history of the place. Most of the planned volunteer tasks at the paper mill are based on informal learning. The volunteers will, by watching others and trying themselves, learn many different things within leadership, organization, handicrafts, arts, knowledge about studieförbund and how to make your own paper and calligraphy. By being in a factory environment, the volunteers will also get a perspective and knowledge about how it is to run a factory and a small scale company in the countryside.
