About Globala Kronoberg
Globala Kronoberg is sending, receiving and coordinating volunteers within the EU initiative European Solidarity Corps (ESC). The aim is to make it easier for youth in the European Union and partner countries to participate in different projects related to society. One of the these opportunities is volunteer projects. Globala Kronoberg supports both youth who want to go abroad and organisations which want to host a volunteer in their workplace. Since 2011 we have received and coordinated over 120 volunteers for local organisations in Kronoberg county. We are cultural-exchange enthusiasts so we try to motivate young people to participate in international exchanges.

Globala Kronoberg is part of the network called Nätverket SIP.  We are located in Växjö, Småland.

Work-schedule and team
A regular workday mainly consists of office work (such as taking care of our social media, helping with day-to-day and ongoing tasks and implementing own ideas how to promote mobility opportunities etc.). But there will be also many days when you will leave your laptop, such as when Globala visits schools to talk about youth mobility opportunities or cleaning out volunteer accommodations.

As a volunteer you will work in a small team of people; these might be volunteers, interns, project leaders and project assistant (even from other organizations within Network SIP, where we are based). The volunteers will be working for 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday. The volunteers are encouraged to take courses in Swedish, and the volunteer decides together with the supervisor the amount of time spent on learning it every week. The volunteers are granted 2 vacation days per moth. (Maximum 24 days per year).

Volunteer’s role and tasks
The volunteer’s role in this project is to assist in arranging activities and developing projects. Here are some examples of tasks for the volunteers:
–Create promotional material about our activities such as flyers, posters and invitations
–Create social media content for Facebook, blog, Instagram (to update on what is happening but also promote mobility opportunities and us as Globala Kronoberg itself etc.)
–Plan, prepare and arrange local activities for young people (volunteer meetings, cultural presentations, international camps, language meetings)
–Plan and prepare online activities with different topics
–Plan, prepare and arrange presentations about ESC and international projects in different places in the region (employment office, schools, youth organizations)
–Document the volunteers project through films, podcasts, pictures and texts

→ You will also join other teams of Network SIP during your volunteering, such as the maintenance team. These will include practical tasks like constructing, screwing, painting or driving with a trailer. In total it will be 5 weeks when you will work manually (2 weeks of preparation and 3 weeks when you will be leading a group of young people which we call “summer workers” and work manually with them).

Candidates' profile and recruitment process
We are looking for a volunteer who:
– is interested in international projects and cultural exchanges
– enjoys working in a team with people with different backgrounds
– is flexible and creative, enjoys both office work (planing, meetings, brainstorming, administration) but also enjoys organizing activities with young people (such as info-presentations, meetings, workshops, etc.)
– is interested in digital and social media, and creating promoting material such as films, flyers and podcast episodes
– open to do their own projects or take their own initiative to start bring new ideas into action
- is not scared of manual work

Food and meals
The volunteers will cook on his/her own. The volunteers receive food money (2 000 SEK) and pocket money every month. The pocket money is 150€ in SEK.

Accommodation and transport
The volunteer will live in a shared apartment either outside Växjö or in the city, having his/her own room and sharing bathroom, kitchen and other common areas. The volunteer will get either a bus card or a bicycle to commute, depending on the distance from our office to the housing. There is Wifi in the accommodation.

Växjö and Kronoberg
Växjö is a municipality of 80.000 inhabitants in Kronoberg county, in the region of Småland in the south of Sweden. It’s situated 3 hours train-travel from Copenhagen, Denmark, and 4 hours from Stockholm. Växjö municipality has been awarded several international awards for its environmental work, including the European Green Leaf Award 2018 from the European Commission.
