"The people I met while working, while walking, shopping, eating, and LIVING, made it my second home town. I got to help others, and most of all I learned a lot. Or they taught me. Not only to speak Italian, to cook risotto, make grappa cake and digging up fennel. They taught me so much about myself, but that’s another story.”
- Mathilda, volunteer in Italy
Coordinating Erasmus+ and ESC projects
Globala Kronoberg has been part of the ESC (European Solidarity Corps) and former EVS (European Voluntary Service) as a receiving, sending and coordinating organisation since 2007. In the frame of Erasmus+ program (formerly called Youth in Action) we work together with other projects at Nätverket SIP - as well as with other local associations and municipalities in the region of Kronoberg.
Mohammad, one of our ESC volunteers, talking about his work at Globala Kronoberg and his stay in Sweden.
Due to these partnerships we are able to provide our long-/short-term hosted ESC volunteers with a varied environment, where they can choose a project that fits them the best, whether in culture, social inclusion, disability, international cooperation and relations, or integration and migration.
Our role as a coordinating organisation includes helping the host organisations with all the administration work within an ESC project (from the accreditation to the final evaluation of the project) as well as providing mentorship and assistance to the supervisors, a place for meetings and exchange of experiences, etc. We are also responsible for the practical arrangements with the volunteers (accommodation, pocket money, food money, travel arrangements, insurance and medical assistance) and we support the volunteers in their social life and their learning process.
