about globala kronoberg

Globala Kronoberg is an international center for young people and organisations in Kronoberg, Sweden. We work mostly with European initiatives such as the ERASMUS+ programme in which we offer mobility possibilities for young people, youth workers and organisations. Our mission is not only to provide opportunities for young people to develop competences and skills through informal and non-formal learning, but also to inform, support and encourage them to take part in international programs like EVS (European Voluntary Service), youth exchanges and trainings across Europe. Those are fantastic opportunities for the the participants to get to know other cultures, meet other young people from different parts of the world, learn how to work in a team and create activities together.
Globala Kronoberg is part of the network called Nätverket SIP and a department within the NGO Projektor Ideell Förening. We are located in Växjö, Småland.
SIP stands for Social change in Practice and, as the name shows, our work focuses on building a more equal and democratic society through new ideas that have an impact on the community. We work therefore with areas such as youth, mobility, integration, accessibility, employment issues and norm critical. Our office is an open-space area where employees, volunteers and interns with different backgrounds, skills, motivations and life situations work together for different projects. We like to see SIP as an open-minded and creative work-space, where it is easy to find opportunities for personal development, at the same time that one contributes for creating a better society and finds solutions for social challenges.
Besides the international projects, we organize local activities like cultural evenings, trainings, workshops and events. Some examples of these activities are the international fair, the young ambassadors’ training and lectures about EVS. We have partners in different countries in Europe and we are frequently looking for new partnerships, especially in projects within Erasmus+. Youngsters from all around Europe can also find interesting EVS projects within culture, art, youth and international issues in Kronoberg. For checking the available vacancies click here.
Summer 2012 we organized the first international youth exchange in Kronoberg, called “Go Out Be In”. As the name suggests, the main theme of this project is “outdoor activities” and becoming more involved with the public spaces of our community. During one week in the summer, we gather 25 youngsters from all over Europe that organize, participate and arrange activities in the city and in the nature in Kronoberg in a projekt called 'Go out, be in'.
Supporting Globala Kronoberg’s work on the local level are the municipalities of Växjö, Alvesta and Älmhult and also local associations in the region that, for instance, host EVS volunteers with our coordination. Besides this support, we frequently receive financing from Swedish foundations, funds and institutions, who make possible to create and arrange local events and smaller projects. You can find more about our work as coordinating organisation here.
You are more than welcome to contact our team by e-mail, phone, skype, facebook and twitter.
